More Information
These recommendations vary depending on the age, breed, and health status of the dog, the potential of the dog to be exposed to the disease, the type of vaccine, whether the dog is used for breeding, and the geographical area where the dog lives or may visit.

*A combination vaccine, often called a 5- way vaccine, usually includes adenovirus cough and hepatitis, canine distemper, parainfluenza, and parvovirus. Some combination vaccines may also include leptospirosis (7-way vaccines) and/or coronavirus. The inclusion of either canine adenovirus-1 or adenovirus- 2 in a vaccine will protect against both adenovirus cough and hepatitis; adenovirus-2 is highly preferred.

**Some puppies may need additional vaccinations against parvovirus after 15 weeks of age. Consult with your local veterinarian.

Microchip Information

Microchipping $20.00 (Customer registers pet themselves at a site of their choice)

Are your chips accepted by all kennel clubs and registries?
Yes. All of the microchips we sell are accepted by any kennel club, registry or breed club that allows microchip numbers to be used as permanent identification. Some of these registries are...

American Kennel Club
America's Pet Registry, Inc.
Continental Kennel Club
United All Breed Registry
United Kennel Club
* We also provide microchips accepted by the Canadian Kennel Club

Which of your chips can be registered in Pet Recovery Services?
All chips we carry are universally accepted for registration into companion animal recovery programs in the United States. These Pet Recovery Call Centers operate 24 hours a day and will reunite a lost pet with his owner if the microchip has been activated by the owner.

What do you mean by "The chip must be activated by the owner?"
It is essential that the owner of the pet activate the pet's chip by registering with the appropriate 24 hour Recovery Center. If the owner does not register - and the pet is lost - the recovery center will not be able to reunite pet and owner. Today millions of pets are microchipped, so a microchip alone is no longer enough to insure a safe return. However, if the owner has activated the chip by providing contact information, the pet will be returned to his owner almost immediately. See our new Activation Cards!

If the chip is not activated what happens to the pet if he is lost?

An activated chip reunites pet and owner!

A non-activated chip might place the pet at risk...

How long does the microchip last?
The microchip has no power supply, battery, or moving parts. It is designed with an operating life of over 25 years and is guaranteed for the life of the animal. Once injected, the microchip is anchored in place as a thin layer of connective tissue forms around it. The chip requires no care. It does not pass through or out of the body.
